If you think the United States has stood still, who built the largest

If you make it idiot proof, somebody will just invent a better idiot.

an old thread from 1995 I dug up:

Kaisa Clark (Pioneer Valley RHS 00) <kcl...@k12.ucs.umass.edu> writes:

> Who is Totoro?>

"Totoro is a Japanese cartoon character, that is sort of a fuzzy,
flying, giant gopher with a sly grin and a loud roar, and a benign
character. He seems to represent a sort of "Spirit of the Forest".
The movie-length cartoon is a fairly recent work. My six-year-old
daughter watches it over and over. It's a good message and a decent
cultural experience for young kids. Adults are entertained by the
incredibly beautiful animation and the strange beauty of the story."

cheers,
Prudence

It's a "fantasy creature" (hem, not quite sure of this expression)
that appears in a Hayao Miyasaki film, "Tonari no totoro".
More recent films from the same director: Porco Rosso, Mononoke Hime...
