I am sure that most of the world has heard of the disaster that occurred
on the evening of Tuesday, 5/27/97, if you haven't I am certain you
will.

San Antonio, Texas enjoyed 122 mile an hour winds, box cars were tossed
off the track, boats flew across the air, cars appeared to me marbles
being shoved off of Interstate 35, etc., etc. YET...this was far from
the worst.

A cold front decided to visit Waco, Texas, mixing with the already hot
humid air(believe it or not, even though heat rises, warm air is lighter
than cold air). In a short time, as the winds raced to Temple, Texas a
short distance north of Austin, one of the fiercest tornadoes was
formed. It traveled south, heading towards Austin, at a miraculous
speed. The people of Gerald, Texas(also north of Austin) watched the
tornado making
a beeline for their town - miles away, no big deal, besides it was so
small. In mere moments it stood there like a prodigy from hell - to big
to fit in the camera lens. It roared with the hatred of the Devil,
moving at 250 miles an hour cutting the town to shreds. There was no
way to hide from it, it even tore the asphalt off the ground.

In mere seconds fifty homes, plus three subdivisions, were smashed and
all memories and keep sakes spread around for miles. These people are
not only homeless, but no longer even have the foundation their homes
once set upon. The mighty hands of this terror removed the top of the
local Albertson's without a grunt and moved on for more damage. To make
a sad and frightening story short, at this time the death count of
Gerald is 38 and there are 27 still missing, amount of injuries are
beyond count at this time, 18,000 are without power.

The once pretty town of Gerod, in minutes, now looks like an empty
parking lot - it was literally leveled.

IMAGINE: You are having a party, a barbecue, a get
together, etc.,
etc., on a nice warm day and before you know it
you have nothing
left, not even memories of the past. YET, no one will forget
that
frightening day - that is a memory of a nightmare of
reality.

Sure, these people are insured, but we all know what insurance companies
are likr.

PLEASE, GIVE JUST ONE DOLLAR - THE MORE YOU CAN SPARE THE BETTER, BUT
"ONE DOLLAR" WILL HELP.

YOU CAN SAY THAT THAT IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM, AND IT ISN'T, BUT WOULDN'T
YOU LIKE IT IF A NATURAL DISASTER DESTROYED YOUR LIFE AND THERE WERE
PEOPLE TO GIVE YOU A HELPING HAND? THINK ABOUT IT...

CAN'T YOU SPARE JUST ONE DOLLAR?

Please send money orders or cash to P.O. Box 542, San Marcos, Texas
