Two Phase Cultural Change

I just have to comment on the recent copyright infringements. Looking
back, I still think that we made progress. Up to about a year ago, there
was no copyright awareness in this newsgroup at all, for example ascii
greats posted composite pics showing Christmas trees with many presents
underneath it, with many contributing artists without giving any of them
any credits. Generally speaking, this does not happen anymore (or done
in appropriate ways,) so we passed an initial phase 1 that had an inward
(towards the ascii community itself) focus.

We may conceive of a subsequent phase 2 which has an outward (towards
the rest of the world) focus. This will be a slow cultural change that
may take several years, considering that the change within the much
smaller ascii community itself took a year. Moreover, if we all pull in
one direction we may get there sooner, if we all pull in different
directions, we may never get there.
