The font ( Japanese's ) does not display in most news readers that uses or set to strictly ASCII or browsers that do not have the character set installed. Also it is a reply to a post that did not make thru the server at least mine anyway. --lgbeard

Japanese character set. It's supposed to look something like this:
/][\
O / \ O
O O
O O
O O
O O
O[10ka]O

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

In the case if you forgot that ASCII is now 8 bits length, I remind you that Every Coutry has a Charset for ASCII And only the 127 first chars are American ! Now ASCII is 256 chars : the last 128 chars are coutry dependent. Hope this helps.. Dans l'article <g74...@4ax.com>, "drsquare" <now...@nowhere.co.uk> a ᅵcrit : >> > Japanese character set? My friends in Hong Kong use two bytes for every letter but only the first 96 of each one of them. I can't read them tho... :-( In article <pan...@free.fr>, bro...@free.fr says... > >In the case if you forgot that ASCII is now 8 bits length, >I remind you that Every Coutry has a Charset for ASCII >And only the 127 first chars are American ! >Now ASCII is 256 chars : the last 128 chars are coutry dependent. >Hope this helps.. >Dans l'article <g74...@4ax.com>, "drsquare" ><now...@nowhere.co.uk> a crit : > >>> >> Japanese character set? =?ISO-8859-15?q?=22Beno=EEt= Rouits" <bro...@free.fr> writes: > In the case if you forgot that ASCII is now 8 bits length, Nonsense. ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is 7 bits, as it is defined in ISO-646. > I remind you that Every Coutry has a Charset for ASCII Every script system[1] has an 8 bit set, as defined in ISO-8895. These are extended from ASCII, but are not part of ASCII themselves. [1] you in France use the same ISO-8859-1 or ISO-8859-15 (same as -1, but with Euro symbol added) that all other western european countries use. > And only the 127 first chars are American ! Actually they are alphabetical. Used also outside of the USA. > Now ASCII is 256 chars : the last 128 chars are coutry dependent. Script dependant. And not ASCII, and so not acceptable in ascii-art. Ascii.art is _defined_ as using the ASCII subset of all the other systems (ISO-8895 and a few others, like the ISO-2022-JP that KAMUI used, or Unicode, or ISO-10646), for exactly the reason, that ASCII will display everywhere. ISO-2022-JP does not display outside of Japanese systems, and so is definitely totally off-topic here. And KAMUI is a repeat offender at not accepting being critisized for this. > Hope this helps.. Not really, as it is wrong. > Dans l'article <g74...@4ax.com>, "drsquare" > <now...@nowhere.co.uk> a crit : > > >> > > Japanese character set? I thought this group was called alt.ASCII-art And BTW: on Usenet, one _follows_ the original posters stuff with ones additions. The original stuff is included to recall in the reader mind the thread one is extending. That should be done before adding new stuff, on planets wherte time runs past to futire.. So it should be read before, to fullfill its purpose. That requires it to be on top, at least with scripts that are read top to bottom. At least you did not quote the entire post. -- Neil Franklin, nei...@franklin.ch.remove http://neil.franklin.ch/ Hacker, Unix Guru, El Eng HTL/BSc, Sysadmin, Archer, Roleplayer - Intellectual Property is Intellectual Robbery

You are SO wrong!!! ASCII stands for american Standard Code for Information Interchange. Note the "American" in that sentence.
