This to be done by every person whose newsreader does not do this automatically (all older ones). And increasing data transfer volume by 33% is even sillier, when the contents is ASCII anyway. Its bad enough for GIFs. In-line ASCII (poster cut&pastes once) is definitely easier and more economic. Also some news servers actually auto-kill posts with binaries (which is what attachments make).
