Star Charts in ASCII anyone?

Hi all,

I wonder if there are star charts in ASCII out there.
I don't need a particular one but would like to learn
how others would do it.

My intention is to provide simple ASCII star charts
to clarify my astronomical observation reports which
I use to post in an astronomical news group.

For example, I drawed an ASCII map for the position
of a group of 3 stars in the lesser known constellation
"Camelopardalis" (giraffe) which looks like this:



    Cassiopeia ("W" or "M")


      *                                         Camloparis
                 *


*         *             *                         �o�

|_______________________|--------------------------|
      ^                                             |
    Take this distance twice            significant 3 star asterism
    to find the 3 star asterism
    in Cameloparis


Thus, I hope to be helpful in locating such particular
objects to less experienced observers without having
to binary stuff in a text only NG.

       Tried it on occasions. Ended up drawing a cartoon and attaching 
it as a PNG or posting it to a temporary bit on my website. Sometimes 
I'd screenshot from a planetarium program.
       ASCII doesn't really have the resolution, IMHO.
