Hi,
I've just uploaded version 1.0 of my new program to SimTel - the
program is called ASCIIArt, and converts GIF images to ASCII artwork.
Actually, it currently only uses the full IBM-PC character set, but
many more configurations will be possible in future, including custom
character sets, and ANSI color support - see the manuals for more
details.
You'll find it in SimTel/msdos/bbs under the filename ASCIIA10.ZIP.

I've just uploaded my new program, ASCIIArt, to SimTel. ASCIIArt will convert GIFs into ASCII artwork for BBSs and DOS text modes. Please see the manual for more info. You'll find it in SimTel/msdos/bbs/ under the name of ASCIIA10.ZIP. - Lee

Maybe I should have mentioned that the package is on any SimTel mirror site. One of the main sites is ftp.oakland.edu. For Netscape or Mosaic, that's ftp://ftp.oakland.edu/SimTel/msdos/bbs
Hi all, Can someone make a small mountain backdrop for my .SIG? if possible include Denver (Colorado) buildings? Thanks, Michael Adler Lakewood, ColorFUL Colorado

Nor can the AltaVista search-engine pick up anything for 'asciia10.zip'. I assume they take a week or so to check out the programme for viruses and copyright ? So maybe it'll get placed onto Simtel next week ? ------------------------- ian...@duende.demon.co.uk ------------------------- ends.

Isn't the site called ftp://oak.oakland.edu ?
I'd like an opinion from all of you...I've recently tried Ascgif.exe, and
am not altogether impressed with the result...it seems that the use of
symbols rather than letter is a bit overdone, and it's user interface is
pretty bloody horrible. Plus that fact that setting the sensitivity above
45 causes my machine to sputter and the screen to garble horribly, and
the whole thing to beep at me over my PC speaker.
So what is the BEST converter out there (in your opinion)?
