How do I get started?

Hi I'm very interested in ASCII art, but I don't know how to get
started.  Can someone help me?

     Reading the ALT.ASCII-ART FAQ will tell you everything you need to know,
it is posted here regularly. I have links to it in the ASCII Zine in the link

Make sure you're working with a fixed-width
font (those where the letters are the same
width -- courier, fixedsys) and just start
"doodling".  :)    Sure, you can read the
FAQ too -- and look at other ASCII pics --
Have fun but beware, it can be addicting.

You'll need a copy of a DOS program called TheDraw 4.6 i belive..  it is
the simlist way to get into makinf ASCII and ANSI pix:)

Naturally, you are all children of the universe and will want to use
characters that are not on that chart; you should feel free to type out
keyboard art using many different fonts and characters. Exchange your
creations with your e-friends via e-mail or put them on your webpage but
PLEASE do not post any nonstandard keyboard art in the newsgroup
alt.ascii-art because not only will you cause and/or receive a lot of
grief, the nonstandard characters you have chosen will not look the same
to other people as they do to you.
