Announce: New Figlet Server

   I received the following in the mail today.  Check it out and tell me 
how it goes.

I was messing with the WWW figlet server and wrote my own figlet server
for my amiga. Below is the helpfile from the server and a fontlist.
Try it out and tell me what you think. Just send email to

Welcome to the helpfile for the Figlet server figlet at ottime.chi.il.us,
 e.g. fig...@ottime.chi.il.us

This server accepts commands much like a listserv does, and produces
the result the server user desires.

Avaialable commands:

FONTLIST  - returns a complete listing of fonts available to the server     

SETFONT fontname - Makes the named font the current Font if it exists
       
PARA_MODE {ON/OFF} - Turns on an off paragraph Mode

COLUMNS value  - set the coloumn width to value, bad values result in 80 
                 columns
SMUSH value - set the smushmode value      

CENTER {ON/OFF} - Turns on and off Centering

HELP  - returns this file

GETFONT fontname  - this will send you the figlet font file back via email
                    so you can add it to your figlet fonts.

%%TEXTSTART%%  -Used to signify beginning of text to be figletized
%%TEXTEND%%    -Used to signify end of text to be figlitized

figlet is a program that creates large characters out of ordinary
screen characters.  figlet can create characters in many different
styles and can "smush" these characters together in various ways.
figlet output is generally reminiscent of the sort of "signatures" many
people like to put at the end of e-mail and UseNet messages.  Some
example figlet output is given below.

If you like figlet (hey, even if you _hate_ figlet), please send an

center -- centers the output of figlet.
terminal -- figlet asks your terminal how wide it is, and uses
            this to determine when to break lines.  Normally, figlet assumes
            80 columns so that people with wide terminals won't annoy the
            people they e-mail figlet output to.
paragraph mode -- eliminates some spurious line breaks when piping
                  a multi-line file through figlet.

Please Excuse the bad documentation as this is still a program under 
construction. Planned features include adding of figlet fonts
by remote users(may or may not be passworded), and a very doubtfull
return of full example character sets.

Any more info desired about fonts can be added if you would like, such
as height without descenders, hardblank value, max line length,
default smushmode, number of comment lines, and rtol

oh btw I'm currently using amiga figlet2.0p0 for this server.
