Hi I've seen a few ascii art pics but they all look stretched! I put some into word with low linespacing and char spacing and they then looked cool. Is there a standdard 'square' fond u all use and how do u use it in notepad? Thanks in advance Adam
Yea, I've had a problem with that streaching, and it's the font you use. Fixedsys does this, because it's not SQUARE, it's RECTANGULAR. .----> On Mon, 03 May 1999 19:59:26 GMT, Adam Ranson announced: | |Hi | |I've seen a few ascii art pics but they all look stretched! Some others that work are Monaco, Courier, Fixedsys and Terminal. To set the font in windows Notepad, just go to the 'Edit' menu and select 'Set Font..'. More info in the alt.ascii-art FAQ. And there is no font that everyone uses, as we all have different operating systems and computers and everyone has their preferences... I use FixedSys (notepad's font) for News postings but Lucida Console in TextPad for making my ascii art. Lucida Console is quite square but you can only get it with Microsoft Plus! I don't know what you're talking about with Notepad, it looks perfectly fine to me, but if you want to view the ASCII pics in a smaller font, try ACiDVIEW, you can get it at WWW.ACID.ORG this program will allow you to view ASCII pics in 25, 28, 30, 35, 43 and 50 line modes, as well as VGA modes like 320x200, 640x480 and so on. It's a great ASCII tool. ACiDDRAW is pretty darn good too as a drawing program. TheDrqaw will let you view ASCII in 25 and 50 line modes as well, but it is an editor as well as a viewer, you would have to copy and paste the picture or load the picture file into TheDraw to view it. With 50 line mode, the letter spaces are half what they are in Notepad, and square instead of rectangular. Profile of an Alien "Grey" head. .' '. .' ; .' AMC ;; .' 9 ;; .' 9 ; ; ; .' ; ; ; '.
