does anybody know definitively what has become of Nerd Boy or his
author?

I'm right here. As for Nerd Boy, he'll probably be back again
some time. I'm just too busy for that now, and I don't know
when I'll have the time.

Whew!  Well at least something awful didn't happen.  Except real-life
intruding, I guess.  Which can be pretty awful.
