Say hello to "Algernon", the world's
only fast-track feline. Algernon, who lost
a serious argument with a Black and Tan
Coonhound a few months back, leaving him
completely legless, was facing a one-way
trip to the vet's, to be put to sleep.
The vet suggested limb replacement to his
distraught owners, who were relieved to
learn that such an option was available.
Instead of conventional bionic legs,
Algernon was fitted with a chassy by TYCO,
very similar to those used on some remote-
control toys.
"Algernon was slowing down, as he is an
older cat," owner VaGina Demoray says."The
speed and flexibility he now has makes him
a favorite with the neighborhood children.
They love taking him to the park and racing
him against their remote-control cars and
trucks! He's so fast now, that we had to get
a custom-made set of racing goggles for him.
He has no problems getting around the house,
either. Mice are terrified of him! And one
great advantage to having a "tracked" cat,
is that he can no longer jump up on the table!"
