I once heard, long ago, that this was carefully designed to make it appear
as a swastika when travelling at about 30 mph.    Anyone else heard that one?

I tried it just now, by rolling the VDU along the floor while the above
was on the screen.   That was at work.

Just as well they're insured.  I'm posting this frome home now...

Didn't heard so, but that may be possible, since the first 'Volkswagen'
was designed in the 30s in Germany, the so called 'Third Reich'. I think
the capitals in the logo were taken because it was a 'Volks(people's)-
Wagen(car)', i.e. a car for the common man.
