He keeps talking about filters and saying shit like "It would seem something in your post is causing it to be filtered. Not sure if it has to do with the something in the content in the art." but never mentions WHAT THE FUCK IS BIENG FILTERED. It cant be dirty words you cuss all the time, but the funnnnnny thing is that your server dont get nothing IN for alt.ascii-art and probly none of the other ones much either.... Why does he fail to mention WHAT THE FUCK IS BIENG FILTERED,is it random. Email me a copy of something that wont post and change it till it DOES post and lets see what the difference IS... and the fact that he says "Not sure if it has to do with the something in the content in the art" sounds VERY wierd. 1 KROGG 11.50 0 1999-11-30 04:58:54 Imagine what one of these: ,______________________________________ |_________________,----------._ [____] ""-,__ __....-----===== (_(||||||||||||)___________/ "" | `----------' Krogg98[ ))"-, | "" `, _,--....___ | `/ """" could be usefull for if you had one of these: ____ _,---""""....""""---._ [_|`--::::;;;;::::--'|_] F """" J | W A S T E | Plastic J F Grabage can F NON EDIBILE J of maggots | | J F F J | | Krogg `--...____...--' -- |"""""<`.THE PRINCE ,'>"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""| | `.`/""""""\,',' my sig is too big, | |SEE HIS ( / \ \' SEE HIS but its really cool. | | FACE \/<> <>\/ SMILE | | / W \ Visit my ascii art site: | | ,'\_|||||_/`. http://www.gtcom.net/~krogg/ascii/ | | ,',' ||| `.`. kro...@gtcom.net | |____<,' TIME TO DIE `.>____Remove no.to.spam to reply____|

Maybe you should speak to the right person... If someone is offering a service he HAS TO KNOW what the problem is or where to look for if one occures. "Not sure" isn't very professionl, ya know? > From: Michael Tomas <ful...@fullnet.net> > To: Jonathon R. Oglesbee > Subject: Re: Failed posts > > The filters are set for incoming and outgoing. I cannot open the > filters > for one group, because I do not have that option to specify. Maybe they should get then a descent news-server? If the one that they are using doesn't allow to set it up useful then they should switch to another one. There are tons of free news servers (e.g. inn - but I doubt that they would be able to work under Linux and I don't know if inn is available for Windows...). Tell them to get a descent newsserver if their doesn't allow to set it up in a proper way. On the other hand "because I do not have that option" _very often_ means the following: "because I have not found that option yet" :-( Very often they try to say "No, that's not possible" but are only not able to find out _how_ it's possible. _Don't_ _EVER_ let tell you that something isn't possible - they are most of the time just too lazy to get their asses off the seat! > From: Michael Tomas <ful...@fullnet.net> > To: Jonathon R. So, like already sugguested - ask what "any phrases" might mean and that he should speak more clear to you and not to hide behind obscure phrases himself. ... maybe you should use a little less emotional language than me, that always comes quite well ;) Have very much luck, Jonathon! -- Gerfried Fuchs <URL:mailto:alf...@innocent.com> <URL:http://alfie.ist.org/alfie/>

I know this group is "home" to you, as it is for me, but the topic of the group is ascii art - we're good at text formatting here, maybe not so good at news servers... :-/ -- (, http://www.ludd.luth.se/~vk/cgi/asciichat/ /|__--__ . __--__ |\ '__ /|\ _{ _ `.' / `.,_ _________ | _________ _,.' I know this group is "home" to you, as it is for me, but the > topic of the group is ascii art - we're good at text formatting here, > maybe not so good at news servers... :-/ You're probably right. I could probably also do better posting dry discussions about HTML and java and what the cat dragged in, on another news group, too. Still, I thought it rather funny - and also, although it might have been better posted to alt.bad.newsservers-whattodo?, I thought others here might also find it amusing. Furthermore, there are some folks here who do know a thing or to, and many others who read this newsgroup that do. Since my laughable problems with my ISP's news server revolve around an inability to post (or recieve posts) of text-art, I imagined resources with some interest IN text-art might present themselves. Next week, I have plans to start a series of lectures about cholera, or perhaps about the proper distributor timing advance on "nailhead" Buick engines... Probably without illustration, but good, clean fun, nevertheless. JRO
Maybe some of you out there kin make heads er tails of this here line of electronik-type mail correspondence with my ISP's server operator. I cain't. Fer years now, I reckon I haff been complainin' about lost posts, and/or no traffic on their server. That's why I read off'n a different server, and post through the one I pays for (it'd be useless to try to read off my ISP's server; it has nothing on it). I can't figger it out. Apparently, they cain't figger it out. Dejanoose ain't dependable er easy enough fer me to want to use it, alla time, but this are the only ISP with a news server, I got access to, here in these hills. Maybe some of y'all server-type geniuses could give this poor feller some expert type advice, or at least folks could post complaints to him. I figgers 'bout another day, and I will toss it to the wind, and give up on text-type-cartoons. On account of I are startin' to git aggrivations over this. He were kind enough to provide his name and number, and email, and yah - this is the admin guy who posted a test to this newsgroup, a while back.... Hey, maybe they'd just let me use their box, or post for me, huh? JRO At 10:56 AM 11/29/99 -0600, Jonathon R. Oglesbee wrote: >Any reason why this attempted post wouldn't post to the >news server?
