Tried to an old magazine look resting on the top of some
more magazines with not to much sucess.
Fold it, Crumble it, Burn it, Tear it, any ideas how to
make it look more real.

It seems you want to find expression of "nostalgia" on ascii-art. Some of your picture sure succeeded; I mean some of "ship" and latest "lighthouse". I can't tell you exactly but if I express(show) by myself, "nostalgic atmosphere" will be suitable, maybe. Honestly speaking, I could hardly feel nostalgia on your "old magazine". It's very difficult to express nostalgia only drawing magazine, some belongings will be add the taste. I bet you can find your own way which you really want to get. Anonymous's advice is nice. He suggested that you lay it down flat, but I've tried to open up a few of the pages to support it instead. Just a geometry problem, the magazine on the top is too open, reduce the angle so it looks flat on the papers.
