Hello all. I did some of this a few weeks ago after I had a few
drinks and got this crazy idea for some ascii art. I haven't posted
them because I was a bit embarassed since they were my first real
ascii arts.

Anyway, I've had a few more beers now, and decided to post them
anyway. I hope you like them.

French flag:

 +-----+-----+-----+
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 +-----+-----+-----+

Irish flag:

 +-----+-----+-----+
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 +-----+-----+-----+

Belgian flag:

 +-----+-----+-----+
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 +-----+-----+-----+

Those are all the front-on views and are quite boring, so I
decided I should probably try to make them more 3-D by using
other views. Here are some side views to give more perspective:

French flag:

 +
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 +

Irish flag:

 +
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 +

Belgian flag:

 +
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 +

I realise these flags are all the same and quite boring, so then
I thought I'd get a bit more artistic by doing a more complicated
flag like the Australian:

Australian flag, end on:

 +
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 +

That's all I got done for the moment. I think I've run out of
artistic ideas for now. I'll see how I go next time I have some
beers.

I'm no great artist myself, but I thought I'd have a go at adding to
your front and end on perspectives with some aerial views;

French flag;

()-----------------

Irish flag;

()-----------------

Australian flag;

()-----------------

Unfortunately I wasn't happy with the way the Belgium flag came out, so
haven't included it here. So if anyone can come up with something to
represent the Belgiums then please post it here.

I don't think it's always so windy, the Belgium's flag was 'bout
pointing to ground when I saw it:

Thankyou for adding to my collection there. I agree that Belgian
flag caused me some trouble getting the tones just right.

I've since been tweaking some more complicated flags with some
more graphical emblems on them.

Argentina:

 +-----------------+
 | |
 +-----------------+
 | * |
 +-----------------+
 | |
 +-----------------+

Botswana:

 +-----------------+
 | |
 |=================|
 | |
 |=================|
 | |
 +-----------------+

Burkina Faso:

 +-----------------+
 | |
 | |
 +--------*--------+
 | |
 | |
 +-----------------+

Phew, my fingers are sore and mentally I'm quite exhausted. I'll
have to come back later with the end-views.

Have you considered adding non-country specific flags to your
collection? I'm a fan of formula one, so would like to share with you
the following;

Blue flag:

 +-----------------+
 | |
 | |
 | |
 | |
 | |
 +-----------------+

Yellow flag:

 +-----------------+
 | |
 | |
 | |
 | |
 | |
 +-----------------+

Black flag:

 +-----------------+
 |#################|
 |#################|
 |#################|
 |#################|
 |#################|
 +-----------------+

I can understand why you've put off the end views, and I'm avoiding the
aerial view for the same reason.

All this ascii art stuff it quite tiring. I need another 6 more pints
to recover from what I've just achieved!

Hey you forgot the most important: the checkered flag:
+-----------------+
|# # # # # # # # #|
| # # # # # # # # |
|# # # # # # # # #|
| # # # # # # # # |
|# # # # # # # # #|

No, the Italian flag looks more like this:

 +-----+-----+-----+
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 | | | |
 +-----+-----+-----+

You need to get your eyes checked :)
