Very nice first attempt!
You might want to consider using some other character besides asterisks
to fill in the piano, since their round shape looks out of place at edges.
Maybe try hash marks or colons?
Here's your pianist and piano after some diddling. I changed the pianist
quite a bit, which is not necessarily an improvement since my diddle loses
out on the more elegant simplicity of the original silhouette.

Of course, you could also try closing the piano, which makes for
an easier pic, though not as dramatic.
