Other hints:
- play around with all the menu commands and tools
- stay tuned for new versions (e.g. because the next one will no longer
be limited to rectangular selections!!!!)
and most of all:
- have fun
Markus
PS: Don't forget to send me a note when you find a bug (not the 'bug'
who post great images to this newsgroup, but 'program bugs'!) or have an
idea for a cool feature or minor improvements

YES! Finally! :D Actually, I don't know why I never requested this feature; I've always wanted it. :) -jg

Finally! :D Actually, I don't know why I never requested this feature; > I've always wanted it. :) So did I :-) And that's why I finally implemented it. Most of it already works - there are only a few bugs I have to fix (if I only had a little more spare time for that all...). And at the moment you can only add/remove rectangular regions from the selection (using shift and ctrl-key as one is used from other applications). I will have to write a tool for freehand selection in the future... You want a preview? But it is very hard work (I would have to change almost everything) and I think not many people will use them in the end. My spare time is limited and so I rather concentrate on things where I know that I can fish them and lots of people will like them. Also I want to write features that are fun writing them :-) At the moment it is the enhanced selection tool and better results for line art. But I will put your example to my list of ideas and maybe someday... Markus -- \-/ http://www.jave.de O_< Get JavE now! \-/ J|a|v|E /| J|a|v|E /-\ Ascii-Art for eyeryone / \ - for free! /-\

There will be the possibility to remove/add rectangular regions from/to the selection (- it already works quite fine in my developer version, so it will be part of the next release). I am also thinking about a freehand selection tool. But I don't think I will support circular selection, for to me it seems to be quite fussy to select a circular region in ascii. To what I have tested the rectangular selection tool already works fine and along with a freehand selection it should be ok. I concur with you on that point. Your work is better spent elsewhere. > At the moment it is the enhanced selection tool and better results for > line art. I personally can't see what the big fuss is about with the enhanced selection tool , but still welcome it - I'm am really looking forward to better line art though. > But I will put your example to my list of ideas and maybe someday... A rather long list by now. Color would still be nice , be again ... your work may be better spent elsewhere

I asked cause simply I admire people who can do something more than just open notepad and write letters... I have all ver- sions of jave, but never used them... :) I just have to have them, not to use, but to have. :) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Does this sentence have any sense in Ehglish? Hi Markus > PS: Don't forget to send me a note when you find a bug (not the 'bug' > who post great images to this newsgroup, but 'program bugs'!) or have an > idea for a cool feature or minor improvements "I take thee at thy word!" (Shakespeare) Cool features actually missing: - layer support with layer and blending effects (eg. Layer shadows or glow; additive and multiply blending, etc.) - filters, effects, etc. (Not only Antialias, maybe a gaussian Blur, some distortions) - plugin support for filters, effects, etc. ... - and a 'Convert to ASCII' item in context menu on images Joey ;) -- (\_ | news:de.alt.rec.ascii-art _/) _."
