I'm never able to connect to the damn things :(

Running win98 [se], have hyperterminal but can't seem to load any telnet
urls, anybody know why?

load up telnet via win+r and then type "open $url" minus the
telnet:// part.  
ie 
open owel.blinkenlights.nl

I don't know if windows will load the one from the
original post right because of the ansi effect but it should load the
star wars one perfectly.

In win95/98 change your font to Terminal - you won't regret it.
