Here are my tries:

and while I was at it, I came up with these crosscountry skiers:

I have no idea if my articles get posted internationally any more, so I
have e-mailed this as well.

It has been brought to my attention by Kaare Johnsen that skipoles are
not used in jumping. (That's what happens when I try to do things from
memory.)

Being somewhat reactionary, I find the classic style of jumping to be
far more elegant. (I know that the jumper doesn't go as far.)

I went to my webferret and found
http://www.cdnsport.ca/jump/html/scoring.html

Using it as a reference, this is what I came up with.

 \ ___o
  \ /
   \ /
    \       ======="
     \
ejm97 `.

 \ __/\_o
  \ /
   \ /
    \       ======="
     \
ejm97 `.

  \
   \_|\
    \ o
     \
ejm97 `

             /
         /|_/
        o /
          /
ejm97 '

           o
            \7
            /
ejm97 .____\____

    o
   . \7
   \ \
    \ |
     \|
ejm97 \
       \

And I just couldn't stop myself:

              \
\ _o/
 \ / \
  \ \__ |
   \ \ \ \|
    \ \/ |
     \ \ |
ejm97 \ \
       `.

Dejanews isn't that reliable either. Sigh.
