You should select the right font for 'fixed width font'. This should be
FixedSys. Now you only have to click on display --> Character Size --> Fixed

(as I am working with the Dutch version of OE5.0, some of these names could
be wrong, however the meaning should be clear...)

Set your proportional font to Courier New and it should work fine.

I still have the same problem.... I change it in VIEW -- TEXT SIZE and
FIXED...... but after it came back again at the same point :-((((((((((

Easy!  Tell Outlook Express to use a monospaced font (i.e. Courier)
to display your e-mail messages, the way $DEITY intended. :)

(Now, if you want exact step-by-step directions, of the "find your
mouse.  find the Outlook Express icon..." variety, I'm afraid I
can't help you there. :)
