(On my Netscape)

Options -> Mail and News Preferences -> Identity -> signature file

Just define a name for your signature file and then create a file with
that name with your signature in it...

As you can see it worked for me:

Hi All,
  I want to fiddle with some ascii art until it works on AOL for my
friend.  I forgot what font AOL uses.  I guess I'll just paste the ascii
pic into MSWord and select the AOL font from the list they have there.
