Like so many others I want to write a text editor especially for ASCII
art.
I'm going to write one for Win 95/98/NT and wanted to know what kind of
special features you look for in that kind of TextEditor, as you are the
ones who know what one needs =). I'd be glad if you could give me some
more ideas what you'd like to see on an Editor for that purpose.

Thanks for your ideas. I think I might be able to use most of them! When I
finish the Editor I'll need any help I can find to beta test it and stuff!

Everything TextPad has, plus...
* Put a picture behind the editing window, to make for better conversions
:o)
* ASCFlip
* In-built FIGlet interface, either in the program or interface with DOS
FIGlet's figlet.exe like FigDOS-GUI does.
* Graphics software-like functions: line, circle, rect etc
* Transparency for spaces in block copy-paste
A few ideas.... :o)
Can I be a beta tester?
If I think of any further cool ideas, I'll let you know.

I do not have hints for your program, but I'm interested if there is any
tool, which uses an picture - bitmaps e.g - for creating asciii-art. This
tool could lay a grid over the image and calculate which ascii-character
fits the best...
So, anyone knows a program like th�s?

I experimented with this idea a few months ago, but the results weren't as
good as I had hoped.
I called it lineGIFscii, and the outputs were like this...

I think the program is bugged, too, since it doesn't use most of the
characters I have given it to use. Maybe once all my school work is sorted
I'll have time to fiddle with it, but not for a few months yet.
Someone else made a very good program that did this, bit I can't remember
their name. Their program's far superiour output was like this...

This program, if I remember correctly, traces lines rather than using the
grid method like mine, and has many more characters to choose from.
Unless someone knows who made the above program, I can't be of any further
