Dear Cedric:
I found this picture, the artist is unknown, but it was originally a
unicorn standing on a mountain ridge & I modified it enough to look like
just a horse for your signature.
I hope you enjoy it!

There are some programs that will convert pictures to ascii, but the result usually looks crappy. You can download the program trough: ftp://ftp.wwa.com/pub/Scarecrow/Gifscii/ Or you can use the web based version at http://www.io360.com/v2/yo/asciiworld/gs.html There's also a program that will turn text to fancy letters, it's called FIGlet and you can download a version trough the FIGlet homepage: http://st-www.cs.uiuc.edu/users/chai/figlet.html or use a web-based version at: http://www.surfplaza.com/figlet/ Furthermore, there's a program that will let you draw like MS Paint or similar programs, it's JAVA and can be found at: http://weber.u.washington.edu/~picasso/java/ad/AsciiDraw.html There's more, but this should be be enough to keep you busy for a while. I only recently found this NG after I asked for help in a UK Local group to find a Birthday cake and or Kittens. I followed the link in a sig file and found what perfectly fitted the bill. I need someone who's played Return to zork to draw an ASCII map of the "Forest
of the Sprites" ((the green one)). I'm writeing an FAQ and will (of course)
give credit to he/she who dose it. I need it to diect people through it since
most people use compass directions and I want to have a map avaliable. I would
need a key of some sort like useing x for the path and o's for the special
spots which I can then label in the text. Not that I'm trying to like stop
your creative genuis hehe. Thanks for your time.

The "3/2" (accidental) keys were capped with birch, hence the "reversed" colors (they aren't). (The body of the key, usually about 18" long, is made of a boxwood or popple that fingernails would chew up in a week, being supple enough not to snap.) When Europe discovered Colonial Economics, ivory veneer replaced plain wood as the harder material, and the 2/3 keys got the rosewood/ebony caps, reversing the traditional colors. Ivory was replaced by acetate, then lucite, which can be any color you please; so, eventually, was ebony. The keybars are still boxwood. BTW, even after 50 years, the black keys on Schroeder's piano were still only painted on. -- >^,,^< The number you have reached is imaginary. It's impossible in 3 dimensions, but if you will allow use of time as the fourth it is very easy: Take two rings sitting on top of each other. Lift the top one and turn it over and set it back on the fisrt. The moving ring sweeps out a surface something like this: . .----. . / __ \ . / / \ \ . | | | | . | | | | . \ \ / / . \ \/ / . \ /\ / . | | . |__| while the stationary ring sweeps out a surface through time connecting the initial and final ends of the surface generated by the moving ring. [You might want to consider the rings to come into existance just before you seperate them and to cease to exist just afterwards.] Note the orientation of the ring has changed, kinda like the 1/2 twist you give the strip when making a Moebius strip. Using [the edges of] two coins you can bet your mathematician friends you can make a klein bottle and maybe win said two coins :-) 3ch

It is impossible to build a "real" Klein bottle in any 3 dimensionsal space, but is possible in (at least some) 4-d spaces. What I presented was not a "representation", it was a real Klein bottle in 4-d "spacetime". --Related: you play asteroids on a torus [tho the aliens don't!] but cannot tell which way the hole is (most any sense there is none!) since it is a "flat" torus. Ponder both a bit more if you don't see it. Further discussion should however be moved to a different group, except for further ascii representations.
