I checked my version of Claris Emailer, it is version 1.0v3, so that may
be the explanation or part of the explanation. The linewrap issue (for
email purposes, not for ascii art) is also discussed in the manual (yes, I
did pay for my copy).

Considering that some of the other clients also start linewrapping at 75
characters, I would stay away with a margin of a couple of characters, in
my previous post I suggested 72 characters as a safe width.
