it's a conquest game. "dimril", "avalon", ... are provinces controlled
by robots (or other players eventually). you begin with one of the
provinces (selected randomly), which has a base population, a happiness
value, a taxation value, ... you train troops, establish a home guard,
fend off other kingdoms that try to invade you, destroy other armies,
win over other populations to your side, deal with rebellions and
plagues, ... eventually hopefully conquering the whole map.
the provinces don't have to be square, and you can make it bigger if
you want. it's currently in C++ but i will be re-writing it in java
later. i will put it on the net when i'm finished, source code and
all, for anybody who wants to build on it or just play it.
