A HOAX

A HOAX

Do not buy into the "get rich quick" on the internet spam posts. Many of these
posts claim that you will make $1,000s really fast at low effort and low
hassle. These are lies and I will explain why.

Yesterday, I decided to try it out. I read a rather convincing post about a
man who had retired at 25. The letter claimed it was perfectly legal. I made
a copy of his post and began to submit it to newsgroups. If you are getting
this post, you also received my previous post

First, the letter doesnt mention how much work it takes to submit the 250
posts. I only submitted to about eighty groups in total, but it took over an
hour of work. So much for the low effort part.

Next, the letter never mentions that different authorities will be notified.
The government (someone at NASA) contacted me and let me know that my posts
were being censored and removed. (some of you may never have gotten my
original post) Netwatch contacted me and told me what I was doing was illegal
in the opinion of the US post office. The US post office statement is online:
http://www.usps.gov/websites/depart/inspect/chainlet.htm

Finally, I made many people very angry by my posts since my school
administrator received complaints. My intention was to see whether or not this
scheme worked. It does not work and for any people who were thinking to try
it, DONT. The letter will cause many more problems than it will solve. I
apologize to those I have angered.
