It was a clever picture, Pammie. I don't think Liz was really trying
to be rude to you, though. Write her an email, and see.

Most computers do have extended characters on them, but many display
these things differently. Extended characters are fine, on IRC, but
here, they're avoided so that the pictures will be universally viewable
to all. Some systems and/or fonts don't see the things, at all. If you
are using something like Topaz New, a premier ascii font, then you will
see an ! everywhere there is an extended character.

I use Topaz New, myself, and do have to hit crtl+f3 to see any extendeds.
This is a problem for me, but some folks don't have that option.

There is no reason to run to mirc to argue; or to avoid one. Your frustration
is understandable, but if you will try to stay away from the extendeds in
your posts ( you can keep an extended version for use on IRC, after all ),
then you will find most everyone will be friendly to you. Even with your
posting extendeds, Laura gave you a nice reply, and Liz just meant to give
you a reminder.

Posts to Usenet don't always get around the globe at the same speed, and
my ISP's news server is notoriously poor (I live in a little backwoods
town in NE Oklahoma). I didn't see your post until lunchtime, today, or
I would have given you about the same reply you got from LBD.

I hope you'll continue making ascii, and posting it here. Slog right on
ahead and ignore what was said on your Valentine thread, and try to remember
to leave out any extended characters in your posting version of your artwork,
and I'm sure everyone will forget all about it, just as you should.
