There are two solutions:
1) what is the third word (look at the last sentence!)
2) language is the third (word in 'the english language')
OK, so this is an awful riddle, that the reason not to post to
rec.puzzles.
There are actually more words ending in GRY (poggry,aggry) but they
are not commonly used.
