Pretty damn good for a first try.  And you're perfectly correct:  you 
almost always need to edit a gifscii before it looks O.K.  The main 
advantage of the programs are that you start with a ready-made outline on 
the screen.  It beats having to use transparencies sticky-taped to the 
monitor :-)
