Talk: Animations, How to?

I have collected several of these ascii animations, and have lots of
ideas (some of them G-rated even!) on some of my own, but have no idea
how they are done. I assume there is a program one uses.
Can someone help me out here?
(Or is there FAQ list that would include this information?)
