Hummm, there's lots of graphics to ascii converters, and it is a fact
that most of them use the dollar sign, but if you take a look to "hand made"
ascii art you'll not find that dollar sign so often. As a matter of fact I
don't recall ever using it. And I really don't consider conversions as "true"
ascii art. The only kind of art I see there is that of the original picture or
the one of heavy and seriusly great diddles to give the final work the right
ascii look.
But .... have you ever seen a character set without the dollar sign?
If I'm not seriously mistaken it belongs to the first "always present" 128
ascii codes!
Hummm, maybe japanese, but I never thought of ascii art made of Kana!! :))
