Cartoon Thesis

Hello one & all:

I've been silently lurking on this newsgroup for a little while now and 
thought I might 
jump in with a request for help from anyone who considers themself a 
creative / analytical 
thinker.  Please respond to the email address shown above.

First, some background on myself.  I am a student pursuing a BA Computer 
& Video 
Imaging (i.e. strong emphasis in 3D Modeling & Animation).  In order for 
the school to 
sign off on a diploma, they require all students to complete a thesis.  
Subject matter for a 
thesis here is usually art, literature or music.  The difference between 
a thesis and a report 
is that a thesis addresses a particular question (e.g. Is there room for 
Art under Fascism?) 
whereas a report goes for an overview of something (e.g. Artists who 
survived Fascist 
regimes).

Given this class is a general education requirement (which is usually 
interpreted as "I don't 
want to do this but I have to"), I thought I'd make the best of it by 
making the subject 
matter pertinent to animation hence, art as my chosen subject matter.  
Now for the hard 
part-- finding a question worth addressing.

Only lately have I been reacquainting myself with the viewing habits of 
my childhood so, 
my cartoon savvy is somewhat rusty.  I thought of the evolution of 
cartoon art as a 
starting point but I'm stumped as to how this can be made into a 
question worth 
addressing.  Another idea I'm considering is "Why is traditional 2D 
Animation still 
considered superior to CG 3D Animation:  Who makes these evaluations and 
what 
standards do they use?"

Although a question is due today, I think I can squeeze out another 
couple of days before 
committing.  Assistance (formulation of question, suggested sources for 
research or 
interviews, etc.) of any kind is immensely appreciated.  Thank you in
