I don't think this kind of discussion would be very welcome in the html groups that I know of - I get the impression that most of the people there regard ascii art as either "obsolete" or "an obstruction of accessibility"... But I suppose that if we all got our butts over to alt.html and invaded the place they couldn't exactly kick us out... (but I doubt we'd find each other in the mess that that group is.
