How to copy a part of an ascii file
Hi I finally found the answer to the below question(how to take part of an ACII pic) with the help of Braveheart and Barry (thanks you guys) After checking into the tools I had available for this, I found out that my own wordp. did the job perfectly fine :) I sat down and wrote it out for some others out there that wondered, just as i had done, how this could be done: In order to copy part of an ascii picture out of a group of many, you can use a text editor such as Microsoft Word. Make sure you set it for a mono spaced-font, such as Courier and set your font for condensed spacing. Now copy a large ascii file into the document you just established. The way to copy just a small portion of this file, is to hold down the ALT key and drag your mouse to the direction you want. In other words: highlighting just the portion you wanted. (This really helps when you want to copy just a small portion out without upsetting the rest of the picture.) If a ASCII graphic is not centered or on the wrong side of your page, you can also use this feature to delete spaces on either side of the picture without having to do major editing or adjusting of the graphic. Once copied, you can now open a new document, use the same settings and copy your small portion(new picture) of the previous ASCII file, into the new document. I hope this is clear enough and helps some others out there :) My question that remains is, how can you reduce the size of some of the very large graphics? Is there a way? Back to the drawing board.. and thanks to all the people who responded :) Eve1
