I know little of Unix although it is used on my Shell Account with my
ISP so I do use the simpler Unix commands as required at the command
line. I think the Unix manual is actually on line too.

I think I have enough detail about "sed" and "tr" in my copy of
UNIX IN A NUTSHELL ( A Desktop Quick Reference for system V &
Solaris 2.0) and this is probably enough for the little I use or
or intend to use Unix.

I am definitely not an aspiring program designer/writer unless you
call *.bat batch files programs, they are really. I write bats to do
specific jobs like using SIZE.BAT to use the resizer RESIZE.EXE from
my Utils directory and redirecting output to files carrying the
%change suffix e.g. MYFILE.75 ( resized to 75% of original ). I can do
this easily on any file using my shareware DOS Shell
"FileViewer"...to hell with Windoze and all the clicking and
pointing and hopping in and out of directory lists to do simple
tasks like resizng a picture. BAH! :-)

Yep, the Horizontal and Vertical flips are excellent.

That is more or less useless but all the rotations are inherently
useless.

Thanks for showing Ilmari's program results...the proof of the
pudding. :-)

In most Ascii artwork Sideflips are probably the most useful. I have
needed to use them many many times in the past but it is so simple now:
