Just a few comments on the Mac stuff
> SimpleText (included with MacOS) <== new version

The Mac also comes with a "Scrapbook" utility for storing all kinds of
snippets, including frames of ascii animations. Just hit the forward or
backward arrow keys on your keyboard and you have a flipbook type of
animations that you can scrub forward or backward (important for
smoothing out the animations in the draft stage). I used it for a while
for my earlier animations.
