Putting my 2cents in.

If it a teacher(s) at this university that is using the Usenet improperly.
Then the Dean of said school need to be informed that the professors, that
is teaching the student. Are doing their jobs improperly, and are not
qualified to teach said course on Internet usage.

IMHO, people who teach others how to use the Internet ARE required to teach
proper nettiquette. Instead of contacting the professor directly, contact
the person who pays the salary. Using terms like media exposure, I would
ask the dean, How would he find the following headline.

Professor of Internet Courses at Wright University Doesn't know proper
net usage.

Since the professor is instructing the students to spam to this news group.
He/She obvious must read this news group. I ask that person, How would you feel
about the above headline? It's not libel, as you had demonstrated that you
don't know proper net usage by instructing your students to use the Usenet
improperly.
