Join us for the ultimate battle of the year... the XMAS 2004 ASCII
compo!
WHAT: XMAS 2004 ASCII COMPO
WHERE: IRC, #ASCIIcompo (EFnet)
DATE: December 19th (Sunday)
TIME: 18:00 - 21:00(GMT)
10:00 - 13:00(PST)
19:00 - 22:00(CET)
All entries will be split amongst two categories:
1. OLDSCHOOL (Amiga style)
2. NEWSCHOOL+BLOCK (PC styles)
RULES
1. Artwork must focus on the surprise topic or keyword(s) announced at
the start of the competition.
2. The competition will run for 3 hours. Submissions will not be
accepted beyond the 21:00(GMT) deadline.
3. An artist may enter one or both of the style categories. A maximum
of (1) artpiece is may be entered per category.
4. In the event an artist wins 1st place in both OLDSCHOOL and
NEWSCHOOL+BLOCK categories, half of the prize winnings will then be
awarded to the highest-ranking 2nd place winner.
5. In the event of a first place tie (or 2nd place, if necessary) the
tie will be broken by the organizers.
6. Use of extended characters from the Amiga ASCII or IBM ASCII
(Codepage 437) is allowed. No other extended character sets may be
used in this particular competition.
7. Use of ANSI X3.64 ("ANSI-BBS") escape codes for colorizing is
allowed.
Suggested text-art editors: ACiDDraw (DOS), PabloDraw (Windows),
UltraEdit (Windows), CED (Amiga), or whatever you are most comfortable
with.
This competition is organized and brought to you by Thuglife.org in
cooperation with ACiD and textfiles.com. Prizes have been donated by
ACiD and textfiles.com. If you would like to donate to the prize-pot
for this compo, please contact pogue_ in #ASCII (EFnet).
Spectators are welcome, we hope to see you there!
