.....\_/\_/... elcome to alt.ascii-art.animation. This group was created to
serve the community of ASCII art fans and artists. This is one of our ASCII
art news groups.
There are three other ASCII art groups:
- rec.arts.ascii
- alt.ascii-art
- alt.binaries.pictures.ascii
There is also an ASCII art mailing list:
ASCII Art listserv list
-> Email: lis...@ukcc.uky.edu
Message: subscribe asciiart
For FTP, Gopher, WWW sites, Email Servers, etc., see below.
You are invited to post your articles on any topic concerning ASCII
art animations, including:
o Animations and color animations.
o Discussion about animations.
o Requests for specific animations.
o Answering requests.
o Community effort at reworking an animation.
o Questions and answers covering:
- Creating and viewing ASCII art animations.
- Locating FTP sites for ASCII art animations and related files.
o Discussion about artists in the field.
To make it easier for everybody, please put one of the following IDs
at the beginning of the subject line of your post:
Animation - Animation. Usually uuencoded.
Color - ANSI Color animated image. Usually uuencoded.
Binary - Binaries (like software to slow animations). Usually uuencoded.
Repost - Repost of a previously posted animation, not a new one.
Request - Request for an animation.
Talk - General discussion, no animation included.
Question - A question concerning ASCII art animations.
Answer - An answer to a question asked by a poster.
Info - Web URLs, email address, Gopher and FTP sites, etc.
Announce - Announcements of events, new sites and web pagse, etc.
FAQ - Used for the weekly posting of Frequently Asked Questions
If you are following up a post, please change the Subject ID to reflect the
contents of the post. This way if you are fulfilling a request, change:
Request: Gymnast
TO
Animation: Gymnast
This allows the readers the option of reading the group in a newsreader's
sorted selector. They can then read only what is of interest to them,
trusting the IDs to accurately identify the contents.
Some people do not have the time (or money if they are paying by the
hour or byte) to read everything in every group they like.
If you have any questions, the FAQ will be posted shortly. It is posted
here every Monday. Here are the questions answered in the FAQ:

This group is mainstream (with animations everyone can enjoy), and
specialized (it is also about artists and how they work), and technical
at times (using software to make and view ASCII art animatinos).
