In a free society, If the protest is just, there is only the need to bring
the truth to the public. If the public is well enough informed to make a
judgement about the validity of the protesters concerns, there is a good
chance that the protest may have a positive impact.  What I see in many
protests these days is a rabid hatred driven affront on anything to do with
"cause's" adversary, and there is the unmistakable stench of the socialist
movement in many of the most violent of protests.
