I just checked and most of the early ones are gone.  With so much news out there,
most sites these days won't keep the "alt.*" stuff for any longer than 3 days.

There's no need to repost anyway.  Just mail the request to the person and he/she
will redistribute it to all those who send him/her "if you get the ..., please 
forward a copy" messages.
