hiya...the form of art you were inquiring about that is similar to ascii but
is Japanese is called Charagra..a site which has some interesting art is

the link ascii on the home page.

Ive seen some art done with the Chinese alphabet which can be found on this
site: http://members.xoom.com/dcau/  Daniel Au's home page.
