They are wonderful. And indeed, they are scary looking in real life. I
was skiing one winter's day at Elk Island Park in Alberta and looked up
to see a small (yeah, right!) bison galloping towards me on the trail.
Needless to say, after yelping, I moved aside to let him gallop by.

Oddly enough, after I had moved off the trail, the young bison had
already chosen to plunge back into the woods instead of passing by me.
But I have to admit that I spent the rest of the chilly afternoon
anxiously looking over my shoulder, waiting to be stampeded by the
bison's parents....
