P.J., you asked about making ascii text renditions, like David's.
(By the way, I'm pretty much a lurker too, only now I might be
emerging).
You can go to the "ascii character string request station" at
http://www.se.cuhk.edu.hk/~mcchau3/cgi-bin/express.html
There you can type in a request of 1-12 letters, and an ascii version
of your submitted text would be provided to you.
I believe this page works similar to Figlet, a shareware program, that
I understand also generates these ascii visions...heh.
