AAwww.. c'mon. This debate has got to end.
We should all agree that having a gif image of an ascii drawing,
is DEFINITLY against it's purpose!
What's best? A photocopy of a painting or the actual painting?

Ascii art has the sole purpose of beeing small, not memory requiring,
flexible and beatuiful. It also has the ability to be implemented in
email unlike gifs. So gifs could be used to what it should be for:
pixel images. I'm not saying that a gif is not as good as an ascii
drawing, but it's meant for whole different things.

There are still a whole great deal of people with text based terminals
and browsers, and why should we let them out?

Imagine me converting my whole collection to gif, would it then be
useful? Hardly!

Erik
