In article <341...@na.chalmers.se>, Johannes Schoon <sch...@na.chalmers.se> writes >I'd like to enhance the code so that it >erases the screen + puts the cursor at the "home" position in >before dumping the next picture. I don't know if it will be the same for you on a unix system but on Dos, to put the cursor to the "home" position you can use the ansi escape sequence: escape left_square_bracket semi_colon capital_H ascii codes (in decimal): 027 091 059 072 [note for Dos ppl: you need to have ansi.sys loaded to do this] Then you can just overwrite the last frame, as long as you write the same number of lines and chars per line. >Also, such an escape >sequence enhanced output will be possible to pipe into a file, which >can be saved for later viewing (cat'ing) on the screen. The problem with this is that you can't control the speed of playback (AFAIK). When I tried it I couldn't see anything except the last frame because it was too fast. I think you would be better off saving the plain output and converting it to html/javascript like the animations in this ng. Kangaroo, who posts here, has written a program to convert from plain text to the html/javascript format.
