pbmtoascii is a program that converts 1-bit pictures to ascii
graphics. The method it uses is pretty simple: it pretends each ascii
character is two square pixels, one on top of another. 'o' is the
bottom pixel on, '"' is the top pixel on, and '$' is both pixels on.
So a small checkerboard with a thick dark border looks like this:
$"$"$"$"$$
$"o"o"o"o$
$"o"o"o"o$
$"o"o"o"o$
$$o$o$o$o$
I'm not really sure why I tried to simulate pbmtoascii style. It
seemed like a good idea at the time...
