i know that the ascii art "community" has its own
terminology, but there are 3 distinct styles of ascii art
that i personally can discern, and i haven't noticed anyone
using any specific terms to refer to these. one, i call
minimal, and the best examples are NerdBoy's comics and the
one-line flower thread that was happening awhile ago.
second, i guess you'd call line-drawing, or pencil style.
the tinkerbell that was being discussed and diddle in a
recent thread is an excellent example. and third is what I
would call block, paint or marker style. most of my art
posted so far is this style. anyway, does anyone else make
these distinctions, and is there other better terms for
them? below is my first real attempt at the line style

                          .
               .    |\   | \
               ( ^-. \ *\|   \ \
           *.   \   *.d. *    * \  ._
                        *-.       *(.
          *-.                      -.
             |                       *
             |    _...  ---.      d*
             |       -  -        .O-.
              \      O  O            )
            (       (    )       o--/
             \_/      --        /
               \       ___   .-*
                *--..__   _.-
                    d======o--|
                   d8======O--b
                   88======O--8
                  (d=======7 (..
                    88888888..\.)
               .****Y888888888.
              (.   /*   *-.... )
                ****8ooo....../

i attempted to diddle it, but i had trouble replacing the
asterisks with anything that worked well. i find that the
line style is much more of a challenge, almost as if the
block style i've been doing was kinda wimpy. i didn't
even attempt to use JavE for this one.
