Oh, I do, but only when something is *exceptionally* good, IMO, and when
not five other people have already done so.

Yes. As simple as that. I expected maybe two or three other people
jumping in and discussing the matter further, as is typical for this
group. Of course I was aware of that it was JRO that wrote the post I
was responding to (after all, his name and pictures were all over it)
but I didn't think I needed to give him any special treatment. I gave
him the same answer I would have given llizard, Ilmari Karonen, or Joan
Stark (just to mention three very different people, one who is a good
friend, non-techy but with an aim for correctness, and two I've only
communicated with in the group, one of which is more techy than
artistic, and one who is more artistic than techy).

Like I said, I didn't know I needed to give him any special treatment. I
don't see why I should give anybody any special treatment.

That's the impression I got too, and the reason I wanted the discussion
in the group rather than in email. In the group anybody can jump in and
comment. The comments could go in his direction, or mine, but they would
still be by other people than just me.
